Have you had your broccoli today? No? Kale or collards? How about spinach? Dark leafy greens are crazy great for the body. They’re packed with calcium, iron, fiber, and they look so pretty on the plate. Plus, they have the added bonus of being ridiculously low-cost and low-calorie. Broccoli for the win!
And, did you know? Those who practice acts of kindness on a regular basis are not only happier but are physically healthier as well. Don’t just take my word for it. Read more from the people who study that sort of thing. Whether you buy lunch for a colleague, hold a door for someone in line, or pay a compliment to a friend, get in the habit of looking for ways to brighten a day. Make it a game. Challenge yourself. Whatever works.
While we’re at it, I’ll throw my own challenge your way. Try two items this week from my bucket list. Have a little fun with this. Shake life up a bit. Doesn’t have to be anything too crazy. Just get used to thinking in new ways, looking at life with different eyes. Take an afternoon off to play with dogs at your local animal shelter, pack some sandwiches and head to the lake for a picnic, or text that long lost friend and suggest a chat over coffee.
Whew! That’s a lot to take in all at once. Baby steps, baby. One tiny footstep after another. You’re fine. You’ve got this.
